Exercise Physiologist
Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations by reviewing medical histories, performing physical assessments, and conducting functional capacity tests to determine suitable exercise interventions.
Job Duties:
- Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based exercise prescriptions for patients presenting orthopedic, neurological, and cardiovascular conditions.
- Administer submaximal and functional exercise tests to assess cardiovascular endurance, musculoskeletal performance, and physiological responses to activity.
- Monitor patient vital signs—including heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and perceived exertion—during therapeutic exercise sessions.
- Analyze physiological responses to exercise, adjusting treatment plans based on patient progress and clinical findings.
- Collaborate with physicians, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals to create coordinated rehabilitation treatment plans.
- Apply principles of exercise physiology, biomechanics, and motor control to optimize functional recovery and improve patient outcomes.
- Educate patients regarding physical activity guidelines, injury prevention, cardiovascular health, and lifestyle modification strategies.
- Develop and revise individualized home exercise programs to promote continuity of care and independent progression.
- Document all clinical evaluations, treatment interventions, and patient progress in electronic health record (EHR) systems, in accordance with healthcare regulations.
- Ensure safe operation and upkeep of rehabilitation and exercise testing equipment, including calibration and troubleshooting as required.
- Employ evidence-based practice and the latest scientific research in exercise science to guide clinical decisions and enhance rehabilitation outcomes.
